NO FIVE WATT HALO - Adventures in Finding Humility Through God's Bountiful Journey

Jump into Burt Pierce’s 1935 Willys and take off with him on a Holy Spirit-driven journey from age 8 to age 80. He will show you how to live while the chips are down, through grief and loss, knowing God in defeat and in prosperity.

Flipping a coin three times on a San Francisco Street corner, he said, “Heads I go to the movies, tails I go to church.” And “God’s tails” is the kickoff of God’s story written into his life.  Crisscrossing the USA as an itinerant evangelist, a three-week courtship led to a “surprise marriage” and he tells the tender story of “A Gift from Above.” He became a beloved pastor and then sparked the adventurous beginning of Royal Rangers, the Assemblies of God boy’s scouting program. Burt’s life took strange turns into the world of Catholic Charismatics meeting in his home and heart, and Mafia bosses in the Federal Prison who found a new “boss” in Jesus.

Burt helps us understand the offering of praise to God from a devastated man in the most unthinkable circumstances as well the bounteous gifts in life. He invites us into the secrets of opening our heart to “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.”

What an incredible life. I can't even explain the roller coaster of emotions I felt while reading this book. Beautifully written, I was not even able to put it down. You just want to keep going and going and going. It is a true story of how when someone follows the Lord, he will bless you with what is truly right for you. If your thinking of reading just stop now and read it. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! I wish there was more!!!

Poignant and heartwarming story of the author’s father’s amazing life

Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2022

No Five Cent Halo, from the journal of the author’s father Burton Pierce, is the heartwarming and remarkable story of his life and his strong and wonderful relationship with his God. His obedience to sometimes very strange directions from the Lord led him to some surprising places and people- and astonishing results!
Almost undone by the diagnosis of a malignant brain tumor in his young first wife who had given birth to their daughter very recently, Burton allows us to see intimate details of how the Lord brought the grieving couple through the quickly progressing illness and her death, and God’s tender Presence bringing Burt through this unspeakable loss and back into an amazing life again.
The co-author of this story is that daughter, who fills in with poignant memories and clarifications. This book is inspirational and heartwarming; you may find yourself chuckling or even wiping away tears every now and then. I enjoyed this book immensely and highly recommend it.

A minister's calling overides life challenges

Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2022

This true story reveals how Christians can behave towards Christians and how a minister's humility overcomes all sorts of challenges in life. I'm old enough to remember the case of Dr. Finch and knew of several events in Rev. Pierce's life as told by others. Reading this book gave me an understanding of the depth of God's calling on a life and even with that calling, people challenges are the toughest to forgive. Pierce overcame them all. The miracle Pierce encountered with the man who was going to commit suicide stands out most to me. I'm sure this books will minister in some way to all who read it, mostly in forgiveness and healing.
